Available from all good bookshops and direct from IHS Since its launch in mid-2005, Per l'Australia has earned a wide readership among students of history, migrants and the general public. The Newcastle Herald said 'The photographs will win your heart in this big, warm book that celebrates the lives and experiences of Italian Australians...' The Sydney Sun-Herald voted Per l'Australia No. 4 in its Top 10 History listing and before the end of 2005 the book went into its second edition. This story of resourcefulness, struggle and achievement, written in both English and Italian, draws on the extensive collection of photographs, documents, objects and oral histories housed at the Italian Historical Society - COASIT, Melbourne. The book celebrates the significant contribution Italian migrants have made to their adopted home since the arrival of the First Fleet. Schools can also purchase our CD Per l’Australia education guide for VCE Italian, as well as SOSE and English (Middle and Lower Years). The guide was produced in association with Rosaria Zarro, COASIT Education Officer—Italian, Museum Victoria. Fact Sheets The IHS has prepared summaries of key themes in the history of Italian migration to Australia. These fact sheets have been designed for a general audience of upper primary and secondary students, undergraduates and family historians. Each fact sheet comes with a list of relevant publications, audio-visuals and internet sites which you can view, by appointment, at the Italian Historical Society. Fact Sheets marked FREE! can be downloaded free of charge. The remaining fact sheets can be purchased as a kit for $22. Please contact the IHS for more information.
