This series consists of records in one notebook, showing financial details of dances organised by the Archbishop’s Committee during the period 1952-54. Dances were held every Saturday and Sunday night, at Cathedral Hall in Fitzroy, and at St George’s Hall in Carlton. The notebook also includes accounting information from occasions such as the Italian Community Debutante Ball held at St Kilda Town Hall in May 1953. The credits usually consist of admissions (ticket sales) and sales of refreshments. Costs included hiring of musicians and the hall. The records in this series show that at least 500 people attended each dance held throughout this period. |
