Migration, migration
A presentation in English ion the concept of migration, focusing on the Italian expeience in Australia and based on information and images from the Italian Historical Society and private sources.
This interactive session encourages students from years 4 to 11 to ask questions, problem solve and place themselves in the shoes of Italian migrants who came to Australia, not only during the mass migration period of the 1950s and 1960s, but also in the mid 19th century.
Each presentation is accompanied by a 42 page activity kit.
Cost:
$33.00 per class (maximum 30 students) at Co.As.It.
$44.00+ per class if done within your school.
Italian can be used in varying degrees depending on the students’ LOTE level.

Out in the country?
- In-services in country schools can be arranged, for both students and staff.
- Bookings need to be made at least 6 weeks in advance
- Cost will vary according to distance, nature of the in-service, overnight stay and travel expenses.
Verb in-services for students - Years 9 to 12
- Courses run for a minimum of 2 hours and are tailored according to the year level.
- Items covered include basic tenses and pronouns subjunctive and the use of double pronouns
- Senior students will benefit most from a full day in-service.
Students will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss their difficulties, practise their verbs in context, and see models of the use of tenses.

Kits
La Canzone Italiana contains the texts to over 120 songs,
illustrative material and numerous activities related to vocabulary,
grammar and comprehensions as well as culture.
Due to copyright we can not include an audio tape but the songs
included in the kit can be borrowed or consulted at the Italian
Resource Centre.
Levels catered for range from year 9 to 12.
Kits on Migration, Technology, Social Issues, Verbs are still available
Oral practice for VCE students
Our 'Incontri di Conversazione' classes take place in August and
September to cater for students completing their oral exam. Students
will be able to ask questions, receive materials related to their
detailed study, and participate in over 90 minutes of conversation and
discussion based on the format of the exam.
Groups are of 15 students or less.
In-Service on immigration for years 4-11

Available on Mondays, Tuesdays in 2008.

The course is aimed at all years 5-9- students and is presented in English. Students of Italian will have an Italian component.

The course is based on VELS and covers a number of strands, domains and dimensions.

The in-service makes use of photographs and objects from the Italian Historical Society.

Cost: $33.00 per class including GST. Fees for visits to country schools upon request.

The teacher of each class will receive a free activities kit of over 30 pages. This kit is not available separately.

The presentation lasts about 1 hour for years 4-7 and 1 ½ hours for years 8-11.

The kit is sent to schools prior to visit, so that the pre-visit activities can be completed.

The in-service focuses on engaging students in interactive and problem-solving approaches geared at their level.

Although focusing on Italian migration to Australia, segments on generalnimmigration issues will be featured. This will help to engage new migrants to Australia and develop skills in comparing and contrasting, and in promoting acceptance and tolerance and a better understanding of the issues faced by multicultural communities.

Follow-up sessions to explore concepts in greater depth can be organised.
