Co.As.It. Italian Study Tour 2007
There is no better way to immerse oneself in the Italian Language and Culture than by studying in Italy itself. Study tours add an exciting new dimension to studying Italian. On 27th December, 2007 a group of 20 Co.As.It. students, including some family members, began a 4 week tour of Italy accompanied by teacher Michele Masini, and organized by Carlton Travel Service.
Below is a recount by Brittany Llewellyn , aged 15 years who, together with her brother Scott, aged 13 years, were part of the group :
"Just recently I was fortunate enough to be on a trip to Italy through Co.As.It. The trip was led by our "Il Capo", Michele Masini and his wife, Graziella, who were very generous with their time and who made the trip memorable.
At first I was a bit worried about what the people with us were going to be like and about my brother and I being the only under-eighteens (or even forty! No offence!). But everyone was really wonderful and got along brilliantly. Husbands and wives, mothers and daughter, families or four or going solo.
My personal highlights included seeing Milano (historical but also embracing modern art and technology), the gorgeous Amalfi Coast and possibly, most of all Firenze. ( I am going to live and study Italian there one day and find a handsome Italian boyfriend or two!)
Thinking back on the trip now...I wish that I was there. However, busy and tired I was at the time (we were always on the go) all of that made the trip really great. It makes me sad that I can no longer walk out of my front door and see canals and gondolas in Venezia and walk on the same cobblestones as people did 2,000 ago in Rome.
Going to Italy was an inspiration and the best thing I have ever done."
