CO.AS.IT.’s Visitation Program provides friendly one-to-one visits by Volunteers in private homes on a weekly basis.

The program was initiated through the leadership of Sir James Gobbo in 1984 and from a simple concept of visiting lonely older Italian speaking individuals has grown to provide friendship and socialisation to many who find themselves socially isolated due to ageing in a non-native country. There is no cost in participating in the program, it is funded by the Australian Federal Government.

The program considers the interests and social needs of the consumer and allocates a volunteer to meet those needs.

To receive social visits in private homes, this can be arranged by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit My Aged Care website. An assessment will be organized by the Regional Assessment Service to assign the referral code to participate in the Social Support Individual visiting program offered by CO.AS.IT.

The CO.AS.IT. advantage

CO.AS.IT. provides a culturally specific service geared towards addressing the needs of members of the Italian-Australian community. Our focus is on Italian-specific tradition, culture and way of doing things. The individual care plan is guided by the needs and wishes of the person needing socialisation and companionship. All program coordinators and Volunteers visitors speak Italian and understand the culture.
