Students' Photography Competition

Primary & Secondary

Ages 5-18

As part of its new Next Gen series, CO.AS.IT.’s Cultural Program is organising its first ever photography competition & exhibition for students from Prep to Year 12.

Calling all budding photographers aged 5 to 18! Do you have a passion for photography and a keen eye for capturing moments? Take part in our photography competition that invites you to delve into the theme of Italy and all things Italian.

Participants are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly and think about what Italy, Italian culture and Italian-Australian culture means to them. Is it best represented by a somewhere in Italy that holds an important significance for you? Is it cooking a traditional dish with someone special? Is it a memorable moment with family? These are just some ideas of what your photos could capture, but we want to see your unique perspective through the lens!

Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, technical skill, and how well they encapsulate the theme. Finalists will be chosen by a panel and selected works will be put on display at CO.AS.IT. (199, Faraday Street, Carlton) in a special exhibition from 14 May to 29 June 2024. At the end of the exhibition all finalists will receive a framed copy of their work.

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded through public voting which will open both online and at CO.AS.IT. starting from 14 May and closing 19 June.

So, grab your cameras and unleash your creativity. In bocca al lupo! 📷

What is Next Gen?

This year, for the first time, the CO.AS.IT. Cultural Program will be presenting a series of events under the umbrella of ‘Next Gen’, that is, the next generation of events designed for the next generation of the community.

We want to create a space where new people can discover more about Italy and Italian culture through fun social events, regardless of their background.

The Next Gen events will be targeted at children, students, young adults, families, and new migrants, regardless of whether they are Italian born, of Italian descent or Italophiles.
